The slim and elegant speaker is compact but delivers highly detailed sound and deep, clean bass. It features the 12th generation Uni-Q driver system with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) and two 13 cm hybrid aluminum bass drivers. MAT absorbs 99% of unwanted noise for pure and natural sound. The hybrid aluminum bass drivers with extended excursion provide tight, deep and controlled bass. The 12th generation Uni-Q system acts as a single point source to increase the sweet spot and distribute sound more evenly. The speaker can be used as a stereo pair or as a surround speaker within an ultimate R Series home theater system. The special microfiber front panels have 1801 precision-cut holes for each driver, ensuring performance even when the drivers are covered. <\/p>\n

The KEF R3 Meta is designed according to KEF’s acoustic philosophy: clear, accurate sound with minimal distortion. The speaker features the latest Uni-Q driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), which absorbs unwanted resonances up to 99%. The cabinet is reinforced with Constrained Layer Damping for reduced vibration. Developed by KEF’s acoustics team led by Jack Oclee-Brown. <\/p>\n

KEF was founded in 1961 by Raymond Cooke in Maidstone, Kent, United Kingdom. The name derives from Kent Engineering & Foundry, where the original workshop was located on the site of Kent Engineering’s steel construction plant. Raymond Cooke was a former BBC audio engineer. From the beginning, the company used synthetic materials and made measurements under controlled conditions. In 1973, a special acoustic laboratory was opened for technical developments. In 1988 KEF developed the Uni-Q driver, in which the treble and midrange speakers are placed together in one axis. Since 2005, it has been headquartered in East Sussex, Great Britain. Over the years, the brand has focused on construction of loudspeakers, including floorstanding models, bookshelf models and flush-mount speakers, as well as portable playback products. <\/p>\n
