General description<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
The design features Single Apparent Source technology, in which four 165 mm force-cancelling bass drivers work together with a 12th-generation Uni-Q driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT\u2122). This configuration provides exceptionally coherent sound reproduction with accurate imaging. The enclosure is made of an ultra-dense polyurethane composite and features complex parabolic shapes that eliminate standing waves. This design contributes to clear and undistorted sound quality. The frequency range extends from 35 Hz to 45 kHz, with a sensitivity of 90 dB and an impedance of 4 ohms. The system is suitable for amplifiers with power ratings between 50 and 400 watts. With dimensions of 1461 mm height, 338 mm width and 475 mm depth, and a weight of 35.3 kg each, the design fits into a variety of listening rooms. It is available in several color finishes, including Piano Black\/Copper and Frosted Blue\/Bronze. The KEF R3 Meta is designed according to KEF’s acoustic philosophy: clear, accurate sound with minimal distortion. The speaker features the latest Uni-Q driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), which absorbs unwanted resonances up to 99%. The cabinet is reinforced with Constrained Layer Damping for reduced vibration. Developed by KEF’s acoustics team led by Jack Oclee-Brown. <\/span><\/div>\n
Brand history<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
KEF was founded in 1961 by Raymond Cooke in Maidstone, Kent, United Kingdom. The name derives from Kent Engineering & Foundry, where the original workshop was located on the site of Kent Engineering’s steel construction plant. Raymond Cooke was a former BBC audio engineer. From the beginning, the company used synthetic materials and made measurements under controlled conditions. In 1973, a special acoustic laboratory was opened for technical developments. In 1988 KEF developed the Uni-Q driver, in which the treble and midrange speakers are placed together in one axis. Since 2005, it has been headquartered in East Sussex, Great Britain.
