The loudspeaker uses a 34-inch curved XStat\u2122 electrostatic panel to reproduce mid- and treble frequencies. An 8-inch woofer with paper cone is integrated for low frequencies. The frequency range runs from 42 Hz to 22 kHz, with a sensitivity of 91 dB at 2.83 V\/m. The nominal impedance is 6 ohms, with a minimum of 1.6 ohms at 20 kHz. The speaker is suitable for amplifiers with power ratings between 20 and 300 watts per channel. Dimensions are 132.3 cm high, 22.9 cm wide and 41.4 cm deep, weighing 16.1 kg each. <\/p>\n

Martin Logan was founded by Gayle Martin Sanders and Ron Logan Sutherland. These gentlemen met in the late 1970s in an audio store in Lawrence, Kansas. To be sure, Kansas is a state in America. Despite different backgrounds (Sanders was trained in architecture and advertising, Sutherland in electrical engineering), they shared a passion for music and…. electrostatic speakers! The rest is anyone’s guess. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The first prototype was ready in 1980, and the team began experimenting with aerospace materials that led to improved performance. The drivers were made with conductive coatings, insulation and adhesives, and an ultralight Mylar membrane between two stators of perforated steel. <\/span><\/div>\n
The public was not introduced to the concept until 1982, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Chicago. The design was awarded a CES Design and Engineering Award. Spurred by the response, they went back to Kansas to turn their ideas into a working and marketable model. <\/span><\/div>\n

The well-known ESL line dates back to 2005 when Martin Logan released the Summit. It was later followed by the Vista, Vantage and Stage. <\/span><\/p>\n
