General description<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n

This system features a range of connectivity options, including optical, coaxial and digital inputs, and vendor support for Apple AirPlay2 and UPnP streaming. It also includes USB inputs that support hi-res audio signals. Its space-saving construction and discreet presentation ensure ease of use in a variety of environments. It comes with a remote control and takes into account contemporary digital needs. One of the notable aspects is the balanced analog input, which offers versatility in connecting different music solutions. Background information<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
The Hegel H400 was designed under the direction of Bent Holter, founder and chief engineer of Hegel Music Systems. The integrated amplifier combines DualAmp technology with DualPower, for minimum distortion and maximum dynamics. It incorporates heavily specified power supplies, custom-made toroidal transformers and Hegel’s own SoundEngine technology. The cabinet is made of brushed aluminum, CNC-machined for extra rigidity and low resonance. The internal wiring is carefully chosen for optimal signal transparency and low noise. <\/span><\/div>\n
Brand history<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
Hegel was founded in Norway in the late 1980s by Bent Holter. In his graduate project at Trondheim University of Technology, he developed a solution for reducing distortion in transistor amplifiers. This led to the technology that later became known as SoundEngine. In 1988, the name Hegel was first used for an amplifier. The company released several CD players and amplifiers in the 1990s. In 1996, the first fully balanced amplifier was introduced. Around 2004, the brand began developing DA converters. Later products featured networking capabilities to support digital music playback. Hegel exclusively markets its own electronics, developing both the circuit design and the necessary software itself.
