Description: Freakuence!

The superlative McIntosh integrated amplifier. The MA12000 whispers and roars at the same time: precise in the low registers, cymbals that sparkle without being harsh, vocals you can almost touch. The space between notes? Plenty of it!

General description

The McIntosh MA12000 is a hybrid integrated amplifier that combines the warmth of a tube preamplifier with the power of a solid-state power amplifier. With 350 watts per channel, the MA12000 delivers impressive sound reproduction with rich dynamics and refined detail.

Thanks to Hybrid Drive™ technology, the McIntosh MA12000 delivers both the nuances of tube amplification and the speed of solid-state amplification. Autoformer™ technology ensures that speakers with different impedances are driven optimally, resulting in a consistent and balanced stereo image.

With a wide range of analog and digital inputs, the McIntosh MA12000 is highly versatile and can be used in a variety of audio systems. The built-in DA2 Digital Audio Module supports high-resolution audio formats, contributing to accurate and detailed sound reproduction.

Background Information

The McIntosh MA12000 is an integrated amplifier that combines technology and craftsmanship. The unit delivers 350 watts per channel thanks to a hybrid design that integrates tubes and solid-state components. The amplifier is constructed from high-quality materials such as stainless steel and brushed aluminum, while the cabinet features a sturdy glass panel with iconic blue VU meters. McIntosh uses carefully selected audio components to deliver pure and undistorted sound, and the internal wiring is hand-soldered for optimal signal transmission. The design reflects the philosophy of precise sound reproduction and timeless aesthetics.

Brand History

McIntosh Laboratory, founded in 1949 by Frank H. McIntosh and Gordon Gow, is located in Binghamton, New York. In 1965, McIntosh amplifiers were used during President Lyndon B. Johnson’s inauguration speech. In 1969, twenty McIntosh MC3500 tube amplifiers provided the sound for the Woodstock festival. In 1974, the Grateful Dead used 48 McIntosh MC2300 amplifiers for their “Wall of Sound” system. In 1990, McIntosh was acquired by Clarion, followed by a takeover by D&M Holdings in 2003. In 2022, the company was sold to a private equity firm. McIntosh is known for its black glass front panels and blue VU meters.
