Background information

The Rega Elicit MK5 is an integrated amplifier from the British brand Rega, which is known for its high-quality audio components. Designed by a dedicated team of engineers, the product reflects Rega’s philosophy of minimalism and maximizing sound quality. The amplifier utilizes carefully selected components, including a custom-designed toroidal transformer and high-quality internal wiring for optimal signal integrity. The robust aluminum chassis not only ensures durability but also reduces resonance. Rega manufactures many of its components in-house in the United Kingdom, which helps ensure control over production quality and consistency. All of this results in a product that is both sonically and aesthetically appealing.

Brand history

Rega was founded in 1973 by Roy Gandy, a mechanical engineer with a passion for music and vinyl records. Gandy began building turntables as a hobby, applying his engineering knowledge to create high-precision equipment. The name “Rega” is a combination of the first two letters of his first name and last name.

In the early years, Gandy worked from a small workshop and produced the first turntables with limited resources. The brand gradually gained recognition in specialized circles for its attention to detail and high quality standards. Rega remained true to manufacturing in the United Kingdom, with a focus on craftsmanship.

In addition to Gandy, Terry Bateman, who joined the company in 1981, played a crucial role in the development of electronic components. The brand continued to evolve with contributions from a small, dedicated team.
