Le laboratoire McIntosh, fond\u00e9 en 1949 par Frank H. McIntosh et Gordon Gow, est bas\u00e9 \u00e0 Binghamton, dans l’\u00c9tat de New York. En 1965, des amplificateurs McIntosh ont \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9s lors du discours d’investiture du pr\u00e9sident Lyndon B. Johnson. En 1969, vingt amplificateurs \u00e0 tubes McIntosh MC3500 ont assur\u00e9 la sonorisation du festival de Woodstock. En 1974, le groupe Grateful Dead a utilis\u00e9 48 amplificateurs McIntosh MC2300 pour son syst\u00e8me \u00ab\u00a0Wall of Sound\u00a0\u00bb. En 1990, McIntosh a \u00e9t\u00e9 rachet\u00e9 par Clarion, puis par D&M Holdings en 2003. En 2022, l’entreprise a \u00e9t\u00e9 vendue \u00e0 une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de capital-investissement.
