Description

Description Freakuence!
The Elac Navis ARF-51 uses an active three-way configuration with separate amplifiers for each driver. This setup provides a tightly defined output, with particularly good dispersion over the frequency range. The use of an all-analog crossover keeps signal processing pure, with no interference from digital technology. This results in a highly controlled and accurate reproduction, clearly delineating low-frequency tones and keeping higher frequencies clear. The system also offers efficient wireless integration without loss of quality. Preamplifier and/or dac on it, and bang on. Strrrrr tight lows, clean mids. Ask for tips!

Reviews & awards | Elac Navis ARF-51

The Absolute Sound — “Elac Navis ARB-51 Active Loudspeaker” by Neil Gader

: The ARB-51 is praised for its rich, full midrange, which reproduces vocals in particular with warmth and clarity; the sound is powerful enough for high volumes, with a well-defined low end.

Hi-Fi News — Lab Report: ELAC Navis ARF-51

: The treble response is considered very smooth for a coaxial driver design, with no “roller coaster”-like peaks; the frequency response shows a few deviations (±3.4–3.9 dB), and the channel matching is slightly less tight between 300 Hz and 20 kHz.

Hi-Fi.nl — “Review: ELAC Navis ARF51 ‘powered’ floorstanding speaker”

: The ARF-51 floorstanding speaker offers more low-end presence than the ARB-51, with a warm and accessible tonal balance; the mid-high range is reproduced with fine sensitivity, and the high frequencies remain silky smooth. Wired listening performs slightly better than wireless, which has some slight background noise.

Sound & Vision — “Elac Navis ARB-51 Powered Loudspeaker Review”

: High-quality tonal accuracy and dynamic range, impressive for its size; the lack of digital inputs, streaming, or onboard DSP is seen as a drawback but is offset by its performance.

Hi-Fi Choice — “Elac Navis ARB-51”

: particularly strong in rhythm-based music with deep bass extension for its size; the soundstage is focused, and the stereo image remains well-defined even off-center; the highs are slightly less refined compared to top-of-the-line models.

CD

The Compact Disc (CD), like most inventions, did not appear out of thin air. After the invention of the laser in 1958, the first patent for optically readable disks was filed in 1961. The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. In this year the first player became available and so began the elimination of the LP from the market. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this. Velen hebben hun lp’s letterlijk bij het vuil gezet… sommige bezoekers zien wij nog steeds balen als ze dit vertellen.
