General description
The Gryphon Essence Preamplifier is a high-performance preamplifier that plays a crucial role in the audio system by amplifying the incoming signal and optimizing it for the power amplifier. With pure Class A amplification and a strict dual mono design, the Gryphon Essence Preamplifier provides unparalleled sound reproduction with minimal distortion and maximum dynamics.

By eliminating unnecessary circuitry such as tone control and balance control, the signal path is shortened and inter-channel crosstalk is minimized. This results in a clear and detailed soundstage, bringing out the subtlest nuances in music.

The Gryphon Essence Preamplifier is equipped with two balanced XLR inputs and three single-ended RCA inputs, offering flexibility in connecting different audio sources. Optionally, the preamplifier can be expanded with an MM/MC phono module or a digital-to-analog converter, depending on your listening preferences.

Want to experience the exceptional performance of the Gryphon Essence Preamplifier for yourself? Schedule a listening session in our listening room or contact us to discuss trade-in options.

Background information
The Gryphon Essence Preamplifier embodies the core values of the company led by founder and designer Flemming E. Rasmussen. The design is based on a fully dual mono configuration to ensure maximum channel separation and minimum noise. Only high-quality components are used, such as patented capacitors and discrete amplifier circuitry. The enclosure is made of rugged aluminum, which minimizes resonances. Internal wiring is hand-selected for optimal signal transmission. Gryphon sources many of their materials from Europe, with an emphasis on precision and durability.
Brand history
Gryphon was founded in 1985 by Flemming E. Rasmussen in Denmark. Its first product was the Gryphon Head Amp, designed for use with moving coil elements. Initially developed as a hobby project, the device stood out for its fully dual-mono Class A architecture. Design and construction took place in Denmark. The name “Gryphon” refers to the mythological creature with the head and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion. Product development, design and production have remained in Denmark ever since. All products use discrete, hand-selected components and a completely symmetrical design. Gryphon has released several models over the years, including preamplifiers, power amplifiers and concatenated systems. The products are characterized by modular design, use of external power supplies and passive volume control in certain preamps.

CD

The Compact Disc (CD), like most inventions, did not appear out of thin air. After the invention of the laser in 1958, the first patent for optically readable disks was filed in 1961. The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. In this year the first player became available and so began the elimination of the LP from the market. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this. Velen hebben hun lp’s letterlijk bij het vuil gezet… sommige bezoekers zien wij nog steeds balen als ze dit vertellen.
