Description

Description Freakuence!
This looks particularly good. What a relief such a display, and what you can make of it cool. Not only album covers and controls, but also VU meters or other graphics. The dac lets you hear a lot, without sounding shrill or thin, this is partly due to the well thought out streaming part. Here you are dealing with a complete digital station, with analog input. Highest quality video playback, for example. Concerts make an evening TV screen more enjoyable!

Reviews & awards | Hifi Rose RS150B

The Absolute Sound

: In their review, Rives Bird describes the HiFi Rose RS150B as a device with exceptional build quality for the price (approx. $4,995), offering extensive features such as streaming, MQA decoding, Roon certification, analog inputs with variable output levels, and DSD playback up to DSD512.

Reference Audio UK

: According to BOB’s Review Series, the RS150B features an impressive 14.9-inch screen, delivers dynamic sound with a wide and deep soundstage, and sounds exceptionally transparent and detailed in DAC mode. However, it is noted that the built-in volume control is slightly less precise compared to an external preamplifier.

Pursuit Perfect System

: Terry Ellis particularly praises the energy, clarity, timing, and resolution of detail, and notes that the DAC chip used is the ESS Sabre 9038PRO. He finds the sound more lively than that of many competitors in this price range, although some filter modes come across as too harsh.

Next-HiFi / HiFi+

: In the Russian HiFi+ PDF review, the Rose is described as “quietly enjoyable,” not drawing attention to itself but effectively conveying the soul and groove of the music. The reviewer preferred using fixed output settings to work around the limitations of the volume control.

Steve Huff Modern Hi-Fi

: Steve Huff calls the RS150B a “tour de force,” praising its large screen, solid build, attractive design, and high level of feature integration (streaming, video, apps). He acknowledges that there were some bugs initially, but that firmware updates have largely addressed them. Sound-wise, he finds the device “juicy” and spacious, with a warm midrange and good transparency, although he has external references that perform better in some details.

CD

The Compact Disc (CD), like most inventions, did not appear out of thin air. After the invention of the laser in 1958, the first patent for optically readable disks was filed in 1961. The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. In this year the first player became available and so began the elimination of the LP from the market. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this. Velen hebben hun lp’s letterlijk bij het vuil gezet… sommige bezoekers zien wij nog steeds balen als ze dit vertellen.
