General description
The KEF KW2 RX receiver is a high-quality audio receiver that delivers clear sound with refined detail, a rich stereo image, and powerful dynamics. This amplifier combines subtle nuances in sound with solid control, making it ideal for those who appreciate both delicate subtleties and deep bass tones. The KEF KW2 RX receiver delivers a consistent soundstage and turns listening into a complete experience, without compromising on audio quality.
As an AV receiver, the KEF KW2 RX conveys a sense of spaciousness and precision; the stereo image is wide, with instruments clearly separated. The sound remains open and refined, and the dynamics come alive during both soft passages and sudden bursts in volume. Thanks to its audio amplifier capabilities, every detail of music or movies sounds exactly as intended, with a natural character that sets it apart from standard receivers.

The frequency range is 20 Hz to 20 kHz, and the latency is approximately 57 milliseconds.

Which KEF subwoofers is the KW2 RX compatible with?

It works seamlessly with KC62, KC92, KF92, and Kube series subwoofers via the proprietary connection.

What connection options are available on the KW2 RX Receiver?

There are three outputs: a proprietary analog output for KEF subwoofers, a 3.5 mm analog output, and a TOSLINK optical output for external subwoofers. USB-C provides power.

What is the maximum distance between the KW2 RX and the XIO soundbar?

Approximately 15 meters in clear line of sight; signal strength decreases when passing through walls.

Reviews & awards | KEF KW2 RX Receiver

What Hi-Fi?

– The review emphasizes that the KW2 RX adapter (approx. £149 / $160) is essential for connecting a subwoofer wirelessly to the XIO soundbar.

WIRED

– The KW2 RX is mentioned as an additional investment on top of the XIO’s already hefty price tag. The RX lets you pair external subwoofers wirelessly, but the lack of that adapter makes this feature less straightforward.

AVForums

– This review praises the KW2 RX’s ability to wirelessly transmit an external subwoofer signal, allowing you to place the subwoofer in more flexible locations. The signal remains stable, and latency is not perceived as disruptive.

StereoNET

– This is an accessory that lets you connect the subwoofer wirelessly to the XIO, helping to create a tidy setup without cable clutter. StereoNET notes that the KW2-RX is optional, meaning you’ll have to pay extra for this feature.

CD

The Compact Disc (CD), like most inventions, did not appear out of thin air. After the invention of the laser in 1958, the first patent for optically readable disks was filed in 1961. The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. In this year the first player became available and so began the elimination of the LP from the market. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this. Velen hebben hun lp’s letterlijk bij het vuil gezet… sommige bezoekers zien wij nog steeds balen als ze dit vertellen.
