One of the first innovations was the introduction of an external power supply, the Valhalla, and other important developments followed later, such as the introduction of the Lingo power supply system in 1990. In 1986, Linn released the Troika cartridge, which provided improved signal reproduction. In the 1990s, Linn expanded its offerings to include digital products, such as the Karik/Numerik CD player, and launched the Knekt multiroom system in 1994. Linn builds almost everything in-house. The high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) there for connecting audio and video signals in digital form, where there is no data compression. Optical input, interference-free and therefore proven to be the better option with some dacs, although they are often limiting in bitrate (yet there are dacs that let in up to 24 bit/192 kHz). The cable used is hugely important we can report, we’d be happy to let you assess these differences.

SPDIF is the abbreviation for Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format. (Nice that we, as a small country, have had influence there!) It is a standard for the transmission of a digital signal between, for example, a streamer or CD drive to dac. The cable used makes quite a difference in playback. A standard cable shows mostly a messy and abundant low, and the middle and high sludge into a mess. There are many who dispute this. Be skeptical, but there has to be a time for evaluation.

You can make a monitor speaker (bookshelf model) sound fantastic. Often the influence of the amplifier is underestimated. A monitor will not sound like a column…. but there is tremendous greatness to be had from it. It’s not just the size that makes enthusiasts choose a monitor, but the timing of a two-way system ensures that there are hordes of fanatics who shouldn’t think of a three-way column. Taste! So be sure to stop by for a comparison.

Reviews & awards | Linn Akudorik Exakt

What Hi-Fi?

rates the Linn Akudorik Exakt as a system that offers unparalleled detail and focus. Digital processing provides exceptional coherence across the entire frequency range, resulting in fast, agile and articulate sound reproduction. The system excels at accurately reproducing complex pieces of music and offers stable, accurate stereo imaging with an impressive soundstage that makes one forget the physical position of the speakers. Consistency across musical genres is praised, with an ability to clearly reveal the nuances of recordings.

hi-fi+

highlights the direct and precise sound reproduction of the Linn Akurate Akudorik Exakt system. Exakt technology provides a subtle combination of mathematical room correction and precise driver alignment, resulting in unprecedented clarity and articulation. The system excels in vocal reproduction and offers a deep, immersive listening experience that puts the listener directly in touch with the music.

fairaudio

describes the Linn Akudorik Exakt as a compact four-way speaker system that, even without the Exakt technology, already offers impressive sound reproduction. With the addition of Exakt, individual sound structures are better distinguished and the sound seems to detach from the speakers, resulting in increased precision and purity. Despite its high price, the technology is praised for its comprehensive, complete and thoughtful system design at a high quality level.

CD

The Compact Disc (CD), like most inventions, did not appear out of thin air. After the invention of the laser in 1958, the first patent for optically readable disks was filed in 1961. The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. In this year the first player became available and so began the elimination of the LP from the market. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this. Velen hebben hun lp’s letterlijk bij het vuil gezet… sommige bezoekers zien wij nog steeds balen als ze dit vertellen.
