Questions & Answers

What is the frequency range and recommended amplification power of the Sonus Faber Sonetto II?

The frequency range extends from approximately 42 Hz to 40,000 Hz, with a sensitivity of 87 dB SPL. The recommended amplifier power ranges from 30 W to 200 W, depending on the amplifier’s quality.

How does the Sonetto II connect to an amplifier in terms of connections?

The Sonetto II is a passive speaker and uses traditional speaker terminals with jumpers; single wiring is standard, and bi-wiring and bi-amping are possible if the system supports separate input connections.

Does the Sonetto II support active control of high and low frequencies?

No, it does not contain any active filters; the speaker uses a passive crossover design that separates the tweeter and midwoofer at around 3,100 Hz in the G2 version.

What is the ideal placement in the room for optimal performance?

Place the speakers away from walls with a front reflex port, preferably on stands that reduce resonance; free placement allows for easier bass reproduction.

How has the cabinet design been improved in the G2 version for resonance control?

The G2 version uses Intono technology, which reduces internal resonances, and features an optimized front-firing reflex port for more flexible speaker placement.

Is the Sonetto II compatible with a lower-impedance amplifier?

Yes, the Sonetto II has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms; the amplifier must be stable at this load to prevent distortion or damage.

Can the Sonetto II be used in a surround or multichannel system?

Yes, although the Sonetto II is a passive stereo stand-mount speaker, it can be used in a multichannel setup provided that the amplifier and crossover configuration support the required channels.

What types of cables or connectors are recommended for connecting the device?

Use speaker cables with stripped ends, spade terminals, or banana plugs; ensure a secure connection and check the connections periodically.

What are the weight and dimensions of a single Sonetto II speaker?

You can make a monitor speaker (bookshelf model) sound fantastic. The influence of the amplifier is often underestimated. A monitor won’t sound like a floorstanding speaker… but you can extract an enormous sense of grandeur from it. It’s not just the size that makes audiophiles choose a monitor; the timing of a two-way system also ensures that there are hordes of enthusiasts who wouldn’t even consider a three-way floorstanding speaker. It’s a matter of taste! So please stop by for a comparison.

Reviews & awards | Sonus Faber Sonetto II

Headfonia

: A summary of this review shows that the Sonus Faber Sonetto II has a fairly warm midrange that lends a lot of texture to dark male voices. Instruments sound organic with decent resolution, though you miss the finest nuances; the upper midrange and female vocals are positioned slightly further back. The speaker also delivers impressive bass performance for its size, with good definition and body, but the high frequencies can be sharp and tiring when listened to directly. Recommendation: angle the speakers slightly away from the corners to mitigate that issue.

Hi-Fi Choice

: In this review, the Sonetto II is praised for its finely tuned sound, smooth high frequencies, and fast rhythmic response, particularly in complex tracks such as those by The Police and modern electronic music. The bass is limited in the extremely low frequencies but still offers plenty of body. The overall impression is that this speaker should be experienced rather than merely praised—it delivers music with joy without compromising accuracy, and has a very appealing character.

CD

The Compact Disc (CD), like most inventions, did not appear out of thin air. After the invention of the laser in 1958, the first patent for optically readable disks was filed in 1961. The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. In this year the first player became available and so began the elimination of the LP from the market. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this. Velen hebben hun lp’s letterlijk bij het vuil gezet… sommige bezoekers zien wij nog steeds balen als ze dit vertellen.
