Description

Description Freakuence!
The Western Electric WE300B, man! This isn’t just a tube—it’s magic in a glass casing. Everything suddenly sounds so… well, incredibly good. What a difference compared to every other 300B tube we have here. Now available for demo right here in the shop! You can try it out at home. We’re happy to trade in your audio gear for it.
Retail price: 1855.00
General description
The Western Electric WE300B is a legendary output tube, known as one of the most celebrated triodes in the world of high-end audio. The Western Electric WE300B delivers a sound that is often described as warm, rich, and natural, with a reproduction in which every detail is audible. In terms of dynamics, this audio tube excels: it renders soft passages with subtlety and loud passages with powerful expression, without distortion or flattening of the stereo image.
The Western Electric WE300B delivers a sound with a wide yet well-defined soundstage, featuring a transparency that allows even the subtlest nuances in the music to shine through. The output tube smooths out harsh edges in the high frequencies, delivers a full midrange, and maintains control in the low frequencies, giving the WE300B the same character you’ve come to expect from top-of-the-line equipment, but with an authentic tube experience. This tube is ideal for listeners of classical, jazz, or acoustic recordings where detail and tonal balance are crucial.
Curious to hear how the Western Electric WE300B sounds in your setup? Schedule a listening session to experience the WE300B or compare it with other output tubes to hear the differences for yourself. Would you like to discuss a trade-in? We’d be happy to help you find the best match for your sound.

Reviews & awards | Western Electric WE300B

audioXpress (Michael Boele, 2022):

The 2021 Rossville productions of the WE 300B tubes were compared to “old stock” and clone versions, using extensive measurements and long-term listening tests. After a burn-in period of 300–500 hours, they initially sounded somewhat flatter and less resolving, but then they subtly opened up—with a midrange that became clearer and richer. Tonal balance, distortion, and internal resistance remained within datasheet specifications; although some higher-order harmonics were present, they largely disappeared after burn-in.

6moons (Srajan Ebaen):

In listening sessions paired with various high-end systems, the WE 300B proved to have a more pronounced presence in the low-mid and midrange, without the usual drawbacks of warmth, such as reduced resolution or sluggishness. Where other 300B variants can sometimes sound metallic or mechanical, this “traditional Western Electric formula” remains purer and more balanced, while retaining energy and detail.

Stereophile (Jonathan Scull, “Jadis SE300B Monoblock Amplifier: A Brace of Bs”):

The WE 300B is described as extremely balanced, powerful without being harsh, with a midrange that ranks among the best and high frequencies that range from transparent and neutral to warm and alluring. The tube also performs very well in the bass range; even at lower amplifier power levels, the sound remains rich and precise. Its build quality and reliability have also been highly praised.

CD

The Compact Disc (CD), like most inventions, did not appear out of thin air. After the invention of the laser in 1958, the first patent for optically readable disks was filed in 1961. The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. In this year the first player became available and so began the elimination of the LP from the market. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this. Velen hebben hun lp’s letterlijk bij het vuil gezet… sommige bezoekers zien wij nog steeds balen als ze dit vertellen.
