Reviews & awards | Advance Paris Playstream A5

Testberichte.de

reviews the Advance Paris PlayStream A5 as an amplifier that combines the best of classic design and modern technology. With excellent sound quality, a variety of connection options, and streaming capabilities, it sets new standards. Strengths include a clear, slightly warm sound with a wide soundstage and deep bass, as well as the classic design featuring VU meters on the front panel. A drawback is the need for improved readability of the touch-sensitive buttons.

Wall of Sound

describes the PlayStream A5 as the "Swiss Army knife" of amplifiers, thanks to its numerous inputs and outputs and streaming capabilities. The device offers an extensive list of analog and digital connections, including USB, Wi-Fi, and aptX HD Bluetooth, as well as MM and MC phono inputs and built-in DAB+ and FM tuners. The dual blue VU meters on the front panel add an aesthetic element.

Hifitest.de

emphasizes that the PlayStream A5 combines both digital and analog technologies. The digital section is built around a WM8740 DAC, while the analog section uses a Class AB amplifier. With an output of nearly 130 watts, the amplifier can also drive larger speakers. The accompanying app is recommended for controlling the integrated streamer.

Le Figaro

highlights the power and precision of the PlayStream A5, which delivers 2x80 watts and combines both classic and modern technologies. The device is praised for its ability to reproduce music with control and nuance, and is considered a worthwhile investment for serious music lovers.

Easylounge

highlights the versatility of the PlayStream A5, which offers ample connectivity options for various sources. Although Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are available, the Bluetooth receiver must be purchased separately. The accompanying smartphone app is perceived as less capable for using Qobuz, offering fewer features and less information than the native Qobuz app.

CD

The Compact Disc (CD), like most inventions, did not appear out of thin air. After the invention of the laser in 1958, the first patent for optically readable disks was filed in 1961. The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. In this year the first player became available and so began the elimination of the LP from the market. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this. Velen hebben hun lp’s letterlijk bij het vuil gezet… sommige bezoekers zien wij nog steeds balen als ze dit vertellen.
