Description

Description: Freakuence!
The Guru 28 will leave you speechless with amazement at how, despite its compact size, it manages to deliver a deep, tightly articulated low end without any sagging. The midrange sounds firmly present; vocals are clear and stable in the stereo image without becoming shrill. The treble blends effortlessly with the rest of the sound.
General description
The Guru 28 is a floorstanding speaker that delivers an impressive soundstage. With a frequency range of 28 Hz to 30 kHz, the Guru 28 delivers deep bass response and exceptional clarity. Thanks to the combination of a soft-dome tweeter, a midrange driver and two woofers at the rear, this speaker offers dynamic and detailed reproduction.

Placement of the Guru 28 in the room is flexible; a minimum distance of 20-25 cm from the rear wall is sufficient. This makes it easy to integrate the speakers into different listening environments without compromising sound quality.

Want to experience the performance of the Guru 28 for yourself? Schedule a listening session in our listening room and discover how these speakers bring your music to life.

Background Information
The Guru 28 is a hi-fi speaker developed by the manufacturer with a focus on precision and realism in sound. The design philosophy centers on creating a natural and spacious sound, utilizing high-quality materials such as specially selected types of wood for the cabinet. The internal wiring has been carefully chosen to minimize signal loss. Designers such as Ingvar Öhman have contributed to refining the audio quality. Production takes place in Sweden, with a focus on attention to detail and craftsmanship. Materials are sourced locally to ensure sustainability and quality.
Brand History
Guru is a Swedish company based in Stockholm. It designs and manufactures loudspeakers, with all critical components manufactured in-house or under close supervision in Europe. The products are built to the high standards Scandinavian manufacturers are known for. Guru speakers are designed to be placed close to or against the rear wall and take advantage of the characteristics of the room to achieve high sensitivity and bass extension. They have low phase distortion and create a sweet field rather than a sweet spot, allowing multiple people in the room to enjoy the sound reproduction. The speakers maintain the correct sound image height whether the listener is sitting or standing.

Reviews & awards | Guru 28

Hifi.nl (Ruud Jonker, September 25, 2022)

: The Guru 28 is best suited for larger-than-average listening rooms, where its sound stands out primarily for its exceptionally open, crystal-clear, and transparent character, with impressive detail and dynamics. The bass extends deeper than expected, and the speaker requires a certain amount of freedom in terms of placement; a high-quality amplifier is recommended.

Ljud & Bild (Jonas Bryngelsson, April 24, 2026)

: The Guru 28 is praised as a highly versatile floor-standing speaker that produces more and deeper bass than you would expect from such a relatively slim model. The speaker combines excellent bass control and low-frequency performance (usable bass down to around 30 Hz), subtle and uniform treble reproduction, and a soundstage that is spacious, nuanced, and immersive, with no noticeable shortcomings across various music genres.

CD

The Compact Disc (CD), like most inventions, did not appear out of thin air. After the invention of the laser in 1958, the first patent for optically readable disks was filed in 1961. The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. In this year the first player became available and so began the elimination of the LP from the market. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this. Velen hebben hun lp’s letterlijk bij het vuil gezet… sommige bezoekers zien wij nog steeds balen als ze dit vertellen.
