Description: Freakuence!
The Guru Q10 immediately makes it clear that “compact” is not a synonym for “quiet”; it delivers a spacious, breathing sound, and you can hear the solid bass pulses. When it comes to vocals, it sounds open and direct—you can hear where the recording is coming from without any filtering. Impressive stuff.

General description
The Guru Q10 is a passive monitor speaker from Guru Audio designed as a compact bookshelf speaker with an impressive soundstage and powerful sound. The Guru Q10 combines a long-stroke woofer with a soft-dome tweeter to deliver a wide frequency response, with dynamics and detail rarely found in speakers of this size. Thanks to its intelligent cabinet design and bracing, the speaker performs surprisingly well even when placed close to walls.
With the Guru Q10, you’ll experience a stereo soundstage that’s spacious and open, where instruments seem to float apart from the enclosure and the stereo image unfolds with clarity. The bass is deep and controlled, while midrange and high frequencies are reproduced accurately without being too sharp. Dynamics are preserved in both soft passages and loud bursts, and the detail in subtle nuances is noticeable—even without mentioning technical specifications.
The Guru Q10 fits into smaller spaces but thinks big when it comes to acoustics; it manages to provide a mature foundation without immediately making you think of floor-standing speakers. For those who want to hear music the way it was meant to be heard, the Guru Q10 is a speaker worth serious consideration. Want to experience the sound of the Guru Q10 for yourself? Schedule a listening session with us, compare it with other models, or explore trade-in options—just let us know when you’d like to come by for a listen.

Questions & Answers

What is the frequency response of the Guru Q10?

The Guru Q10 delivers an in-room frequency response of approximately 30 Hz to 30 kHz, which means deep bass and clear highs.

How many watts does an amplifier need to drive the Q10 optimally?

An amplifier with an output of approximately 20 to 160 W per channel is suitable for the Guru Q10.

What are the sensitivity and impedance of the Q10?

The sensitivity is approximately 87 dB (2.83 V / 1 m), and the nominal impedance is 5 ohms.

How should the Q10 be positioned for optimal bass performance?

The Q10 performs best when placed near a wall; this boosts the low frequencies down to 30 Hz. When placed further from the wall, it delivers a more spacious soundstage but slightly less bass impact.

What is the purpose of the crossover range between 2 and 7 kHz?

This wide crossover range keeps the vocals and midrange on a single driver, minimizing distortion and transition artifacts at critical frequencies.

What connections does the Guru Q10 require?

The Q10 uses standard analog signal input; specific connector types depend on the setup (e.g., XLR or balanced). (Note: It is passive, so it has no built-in DSP or wireless connection.)

Which amplifiers and cables are compatible with the Q10?

Any amplifier within the recommended power range (20–160 W at 5 ohms) will work; preferably use thick, low-resistance speaker cables to minimize signal loss.

Does the Q10 have a built-in DSP or grainy electronics?

No, the Guru Q10 is a passive speaker system without its own active electronics or digital signal processing. The audio signal must be processed externally.

How far does the sound from the Q10 travel in a room?

Thanks to the precision of the drivers and the enclosure, the Q10 delivers a holographic soundstage; imaging remains precise and detailed, even in average-sized listening rooms.

What are the dimensions and weight of each Guru Q10?

Each speaker measures approximately 30 × 23.2 × 25.2 cm and weighs around 7 kg.

You can make a monitor speaker (bookshelf model) sound fantastic. The influence of the amplifier is often underestimated. A monitor won’t sound like a floorstanding speaker… but you can extract an enormous sense of grandeur from it. It’s not just the size that makes audiophiles choose a monitor; the timing of a two-way system also ensures that there are hordes of enthusiasts who wouldn’t even consider a three-way floorstanding speaker. It’s a matter of taste! So please stop by for a comparison.

Reviews & awards | Guru Q10

Vumetre

: The review: “The Guru Q10 speakers reproduce music with stunning scale, composure, and remarkable impact. They convey compositions with such natural harmony that you can listen to them for hours on end.” This summary makes it clear that the Q10 speakers are praised in this review for their impressive scale, serene sound, and harmonious musical performance, which makes for extended listening sessions.

Alpha Audio

: The Q10 produces a very spacious, open, and fast soundstage and extends impressively low in frequency. At the same time, the speakers lack detail in the bass, and the midrange sometimes lacks a bit of body, which makes the price seem high.

Stereo (Stereo.de, German-language magazine)

: The Guru Q10 features a very thoughtful design, with excellent timing and character, and a balanced sound that meets both audiophile and aesthetic requirements, with surprisingly deep bass for a compact model.

Image hifi

: According to Jochen Reinecke, the Q10’s bass—in terms of depth and definition—is among the best he has heard recently, given the modest size of the enclosure; these speakers are “no toys” but fully-fledged models.

CD

The Compact Disc (CD), like most inventions, did not appear out of thin air. After the invention of the laser in 1958, the first patent for optically readable disks was filed in 1961. The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. In this year the first player became available and so began the elimination of the LP from the market. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this. Velen hebben hun lp’s letterlijk bij het vuil gezet… sommige bezoekers zien wij nog steeds balen als ze dit vertellen.
