General description
The Silent Angel Munich M1T is a high-quality digital transport (also known as a “music transporter”) from Silent Angel, designed to get the most out of existing DACs without having an analog output of its own. The Silent Angel Munich M1T functions as a source component that delivers digital signals via USB, AES/EBU, coax, and I²S, among other interfaces, and supports streaming playback options such as Qobuz, TIDAL, Spotify Connect, and internet radio through the VitOS Orbiter app.
The Silent Angel Munich M1T’s sound is characterized by a low noise floor, clear detail reproduction, and a tight stereo image. Thanks to its fanless enclosure and optimized digital circuits, the sound remains clean and free of distortion. Dynamics come through clearly, with powerful bass reproduction on Qobuz and coherent midrange during vocal passages, without being overpowering.
The Silent Angel Munich M1T strikes a precise balance between nuance and musical expression. Its rich, detailed resolution really shines through on demanding recordings, while maintaining natural spatiality and sound. This digital transport keeps the focus on what matters: minimal jitter, consistent timing, and optimal signal transfer to the external DAC.
Are you curious about how the Silent Angel Munich M1T sounds in your system? Feel free to schedule a listening session or stop by to compare the Munich M1T with other transports. Would you like to know what trade-in value your current equipment has? Let’s discuss that together.

Reviews & awards | Silent Angel Munich M1T

StereoNET (Jay Garrett)

: The Munich M1T is praised as a compact, high-quality streamer/transport with digital outputs (AES/EBU, I²S, coax) for PCM up to 384 kHz & DSD128 and USB audio up to PCM 768 kHz / DSD256. In practice, it stands out for its “relaxed presentation” of the lower midrange and an open, incisive midrange and treble. The bass response is praised: tight and rhythmically compelling, without being overly exaggerated.

AudioMuzoFans

: According to this Polish review, the Munich M1T is a “champion” among digital transports/streamers at a very reasonable price. The VitOS Orbiter app is described as extremely well-designed, smooth, intuitive, and available for Android and iOS. The device brings the quality of streaming services very close to that of high-end CD players—provided it’s paired with a good DAC.

connect.de

: This test suggests that the M1T offers excellent value for money, although it is noted that sound quality improves significantly with the addition of external networking equipment (Bonn N8 switch) and a linear power supply (Forester F1). When combined with these components, vocals sound “smoother, more intimate, and almost analog.”

Qobuz (French review by Alban Amouroux)

: The build quality and finish receive praise: the materials, tuning, and overall construction exude quality. The sound is described as respectful of the source material, without artificial embellishments—the three musicians in a jazz trio are clearly distinguishable, and the low end is given the necessary suppleness and impact.

Wstereo.pl

: Here, the M1T is praised for its clarity and directness of sound, with beautiful detail reproduction and nuanced differences between various recordings. There is a slight tonal characterization: a subtle warmth and extra weight that make the sound a bit fuller.

The Audiophile Man (Paul Rigby)

: The M1T primarily serves as a reliable companion for streaming services such as TIDAL Masters and Qobuz, with USB as the source. He notes that the upper midrange and treble can sometimes exhibit a touch of harshness, especially during busy passages. With the best streaming services, it delivers a noticeable improvement in bass response and soundstage.

CD

The Compact Disc (CD), like most inventions, did not appear out of thin air. After the invention of the laser in 1958, the first patent for optically readable disks was filed in 1961. The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. In this year the first player became available and so began the elimination of the LP from the market. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this. Velen hebben hun lp’s letterlijk bij het vuil gezet… sommige bezoekers zien wij nog steeds balen als ze dit vertellen.
