Description

Description: Freakuence!
These Italian speakers are truly beautiful! A transparent speaker that evokes the warmth of Sonus Faber’s heritage. They’ve partly moved away from that warmth—which is especially noticeable in the high frequencies—where they go much further than they did a few years ago, resulting in a lot of space and a rich midrange that’s become more neutral. But folks! It’s still a Sonus Faber, with a keen sense of warm, woody tones.
General description
The Sonus Faber Lumina III is a floor-standing speaker that delivers a refined audio experience in any listening room. This speaker combines refined sound and a balanced soundstage, resulting in a musical reproduction that is rich in detail and conveys dynamics convincingly. As part of Sonus Faber’s Lumina series, the Lumina III delivers a stereo image that feels precise and spacious, regardless of music genre or speaker configuration.
When listening to the Sonus Faber Lumina III, you immediately notice how clear the sound is—with no harshness in the high frequencies and controlled bass that doesn’t dominate but rather supports the sound. The sound remains harmonious as the volume increases: the dynamics come to life without sacrificing detail in the midrange. This speaker system’s design ensures that you can hear individual notes clearly, instruments are spatially separated, and vocals are perfectly intelligible.
Consider a listening test with the Sonus Faber Lumina III to experience the stereo image and sound signature for yourself; you can compare it directly with other models in our in-store listening rooms. If you’re curious about trade-in options or would like to hear different speakers side by side, feel free to contact us or schedule a listening session so you can find what truly suits your taste.

Reviews & awards | Sonus Faber LUMINA III

AphroditeSound

: The Sonus Faber Lumina III offers a fresh, immersive, and lively sound, particularly excelling with classical music, but also performing well with EDM and rock. The low bass isn’t its strongest point despite the dual bass drivers; those looking for heavy bass may need to look elsewhere.

The Absolute Sound (Drew Kalbach, May 2022)

: Thanks to downward-firing reflex ports, the IIIs require sufficient space; spike feet and floor protectors are included. The speakers are sleek and elegantly built, featuring natural materials such as wood veneer and a 1.15" Damped Apex Dome tweeter.

Stereophile (John Atkinson, March 2021)

: The frequency response shows slight overemphasis in the upper register and a decrease in mid-bass when placed farther from the wall; placing it closer to the wall improves the balance between the low and upper bass.

HomeTheaterHiFi (Carlo Lo Raso)

: Midrange and treble are rich and appealing; musical detail and imaging are excellent. The bass rolls off quickly depending on the room; the reproduction of cellos and double basses loses some weight in the higher frequencies.

AudiophilePure

: The speakers incorporate technology from higher-end models, featuring the same DAD tweeter as the Sonetto line and a three-way design with four drivers. Specifications: ~89 dB sensitivity, 4 ohm impedance, frequency response down to approximately 40 Hz.

StereoNET International

: The IIIs are surprisingly powerful and mature for their size. Midrange tones have more character than those of the Lumina I; vocals sound warm with plenty of timbre. Despite the rhythmic drive, the sound remains subdued compared to some competitors, and the treble is slightly restrained.

CEPro

: Electric bass lines in rock and pop tracks are reproduced well; the speakers deliver clean, heavy mid-bass without distorting the details in the low and mid-range. The only drawback is a slight tonal leanness in the midrange.

CD

The Compact Disc (CD), like most inventions, did not appear out of thin air. After the invention of the laser in 1958, the first patent for optically readable disks was filed in 1961. The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. In this year the first player became available and so began the elimination of the LP from the market. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this. Velen hebben hun lp’s letterlijk bij het vuil gezet… sommige bezoekers zien wij nog steeds balen als ze dit vertellen.
